 Every amount helps

Heartland German Shepherd Rescue (HUGS) is a Nebraska-licensed, all-volunteer, 501c3 non-profit dog rescue organization.  We work tirelessly to save the lives of German Shepherd dogs who have no one else to turn to.

Some of the dogs we rescue come from shelters where they are at risk of being euthanized. Others come from dire situations involving cruelty, neglect or abandonment.  Some suffer from malnourishment, fly strike, kennel cough, or the devastating but very preventable Heartworm disease. Others were dumped &/or were about to be euthanized by their former owners because they require expensive treatment or surgery.

We rescue, nurse back to health, rehabilitate and place HUGS dogs in permanent loving homes. Your generous donation helps us defray the cost of rescuing these dogs and allows us to continue our work.

Donations go directly to help pay for vet bills, food and heartworm preventative for the HUGS dogs. Your donation of any amount is what allows us to save more dogs and we truly appreciate it. And so do the dogs that you are helping us save! THANK YOU On behalf of the HUGS dogs.

Your donation to HUGS is tax-deductible. Simply let us know if you would like a receipt.

Help us save lives by donating!

Why are Sponsorships & Donations so important?

HUGS provides food, supplies, necessary vet care (emergency, acute, routine), heartworm and flea/tick preventative to the HUGS foster dogs while they look for their forever homes.

This can be quite costly and challenging in many ways. As a volunteer group that runs solely on donations and adoptions fees, we need your support.

Taking in moms & their litters, sick puppies (Parvo), and animals that require expensive treatment or surgery places a huge strain on our vet fund, and can affect our ability to help future dogs.

Sadly, without sufficient funding to transport, vet/treat, feed the dogs that we take in, we could not continue saving them.
