German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation.

Fabian is a super handsome, big young boy whom we rescued from a crowded kill shelter in Oklahoma. Poor Fabian was dumped at the shelter for escaping his yard, where he was being left unsupervised while no one was home! Fabian was out of time and we couldn't let that be the end for this sweet young boy who likes people, kids, and other dogs. So when the shelter asked, we said "yes!" so that Fabian could have a real chance in a home with owners who will provide the care and attention he needs, and who will keep him safe. Fabian has been thriving in his foster home and is now ready for a great furever home of his own!

Fabian is an 11 month-old, incredibly handsome, huge puppy! Fabian is a charming boy who is a little shy when meeting new people. He likes to run, play outside with others and loves walks. Fabian is treat-motivated, eager to please and learn, and already knows "Sit,” “Wait”, "lay-down" and “Shake/ High-five”. Fabian warms up to women faster than men, but is affectionate with everyone once he gets to know them well. He is a sweet boy who can be independent but also loves to be around his favorite people in the house. Fabian who would be ideal for a family with older children: while he's ok with small children, he definitely prefers to hang out with the older kids or adults! Fabian would be the perfect companion for a family who is looking for a quiet, active sweet boy with good house manners. Fabian doesn't usually bark inside the home, unless he sees another dog walking outside. Fabian does ok on car rides.This handsome teen is looking for an active, experienced owner who will continue to work on his socialization and training.
