Lydia is the sweetest girl who will give you the most unconditional love a dog could ever give! She loves spending time with her humans whether that is cuddling, fetching, or getting all the pets! She is very loving and sometimes cuddling with her isn’t an option if you leave it up to her! She will bury her head under your arms, wiggle her body as close as she can to yours, give you a couple kisses, and then snuggle her head right on your chest! Lydia also loves to play fetch, work on training for some yummy treats, going on walks, or really anything that gives her one-on-one attention. She loves to play with other dogs but there is nothing Lydia loves more than spending quality time with her humans. She will thrive in a home with another dog to play with but most importantly someone who will give her some undivided attention!

Lydia’s favorite toys are stuffed toys, ropes, or a ball to fetch! Although she would rather play with you, she also plays really well independently and keeps herself occupied when you’re not able to play. One thing she loves to do is move shoes around the house. She does not chew them but she will take one shoe and move it into another room. I think she is a bit of a trickster! Lydia also likes to chew on toy bones, and she LOVES treats! She has not had much training, but she loves to learn especially if treats are involved!

Lydia’s training was minimal when she first arrived. She knew how to sit and that was about it. She almost has lay “down”, and she is currently working on leash manners. She has gotten much better at not jumping up and pulling on the leash but she continues to work on it. She is fully potty trained, and kennel trained. She rides in a car well and sleeps in a kennel at night. Lydia loves meeting new people and is not shy. The only fear she had was going down stairs but she is doing much better with that now! She gets along with other dogs well with a slow introduction like most GSD’s. She loves to play with her foster siblings who is a two-year-old male GSD and an eleven-year-old female Yorkie. When seeing a cat, she was curious about it, but has yet to interact with one. Lydia has not been around kids but would recommend a family with older kids since she is still learning to be gentle at times (sometimes she forgets how big those paws of hers are!) Lydia values her own space, especially in a house with other dogs. Whether that is a bed or kennel, she likes to have a place that is her own where she can take naps or play with her toys!

Lydia is a very smart, well-behaved girl, who just needs someone to teach her all the things she is capable of and someone who will take the time to reciprocate all the love she gives.
