Jetta's Sponsorship Page
Jetta

Jetta is a very sweet and high energy GSD. She loves being active, like walks, toys, light play-wrestling, playing chase, and playing tug-o-war with other dogs. When she is finally ready to lay down, it isn't long before she is ready to play again! She gets along great with dogs of all sizes and ages, but would do best with at least one playful dog buddy who will be able to match her enthusiastic playstyle (and keep up with her!), to help her burn energy.

Jetta kennels well and will stay quiet after a few minutes. She is food-motivated, very smart, and has a great temperament (she's a friendly, sweet girl). She shares all of her toys, bones, and other belonging great with all other household dogs. She is potty-trained. She would be a great addition to an experienced household who would like to include this super smart, sweet girl in their active lifestyle!
Jetta's adopter will need to continue working on her leash manners and basic training. She has been working on recall and is doing great. She now sits before going out and coming back in, sits for food, and knows to sit in her spot for meals. This girl is a smart cookie, very sweet, very food motivated, and she loves to learn new things!

Like any of our dogs, this gorgeous girl would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that this breed needs. Because of that, Jetta's ideal owner will have prior GSD or other herding breed experience. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills, and manners.

Jetta's adoption fee is $350, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.

Why are Sponsorships & Donations so important?

HUGS provides dog food, supplies, necessary vet care (emergency, acute, routine), heartworm and flea/tick preventative to the HUGS foster dogs while they look for their forever homes. This can be quite costly and challenging in many ways. Additionally, some of the dogs that we rescue arrive sick or injured and require hospitalization, expensive surgery or long-term medications or other treatment. This places a huge strain on our vet fund, and can affect our ability to help future dogs.

Sadly, without sufficient funding to transport, vet/treat, feed the dogs that we take in, we could not continue saving them. As a volunteer group that runs solely on donations and adoptions fees, we truly need your support.
